Biography

Ville Niiranen is a portrait and documentary photographer based in London and Zürich.

Often drawing inspiration from his background in social sciences, Ville is interested in creating stories that focus on people and place and on how we connect with our surroundings.

Photography has been part of Ville’s life since his youth and transformed into a vocation in 2014 after he put an end to his first career in finance. His early photographic journey saw him traversing across the Alps documenting skiing and outdoor activities for various editorial publications, before moving into the current field of editorial and documentary work.

His images have appeared in publications in France, Sweden, Canada, the UK and the US. In 2024 his work was selected for the prestigious Taylor Wessing Portrait Prize exhibition in the National Portrait Gallery, London.

Ville holds an MA in Commercial Photography from London College of Communication, UAL (2023) and is a recent winner of Portrait of Britain (2023).

He is available for commissions worldwide.
